Particle of matter, pixel, point in space, gesture. The exhibit explores the threshold of olfactory sensation, optical phenomena and participatory environments, through installations and objects of spice, glass and emergent technologies.

Enrique Metinides, one of Mexico’s most celebrated photojounalists, is best known for his 1950’s car crash photographs. This exhibition, Maimed in Mexico: The Early Car Crash Photographs of Enrque Metinides, examines the artist’s black and white photographic work, which captures the dark side of life (and death) in Mexico City from the 1950’s to early 1960’s.

Cecil Balmond has transformed the role of the engineer in contemporary architecture with his unorthodox and visionary approach that merges architecture and engineering. Forum 64 features his work H_edge, which consists of approximately 6,000 aluminum plates suspended between rigid stainless steel chains. The 33 individuals showcased in Behind Our Scenes are artists whose jobs range from customer service representative to curator, installer to art educator. Each has worked to coordinate both internationally renowned exhibits as well as local showcases celebrating Pittsburgh's artistic diversity.
