| To become a member, you have to fill out a few quick forms that will tell us who you are, how to reach you via email, and what sort of events interest you. This information is your "personal profile," and is password protected so only you have access to it. The part of your profile that tells the system what events interest you is called your "preferences." As a member, you will have your own home page on the site and receive an email each Wednesday. Each of these will show you the editor's event picks and the events that match what you've told the system interests you. To access your home page, you must login. Your username will be your email address as stated in your registration form; you can select any password you like as long at it's at least 4 characters long. The site will automatically log you in if you've selected the "remember me" option in your personal profile. The system lets you use the events you see to "tune" your preferences, using "send me more events like this" and "don't send me any more events like this" links. As you use these links over time, your preferences will more accurately capture the things you like and dislike. The email that you receive on Wednesday will show you events for the next week. Please keep in mind that new events might be added to the system after you receive your email. The website is a "live" view of the information in the system, and does not show you old events (unless you ask it to). The email you receive is fixed, and does not update itself. The information in your profile will not be given or sold to any third parties.
